Argentine Tango 3 Intensive
Instructor: Carrie
Level 3 focuses on taking the lead; follow techniques to a higher level, strengthening the connection between partners, expanding and polishing the step repertoire, and deepening responsiveness to the music itself. Each monthly topic (such as "socially acceptable boleos", "making milonga your friend", "safe and sane sacadas", refining close embrace, "turns of all types", and "cadenas") allows students to refine their fundamental technique, which ultimately allows for more improvisatory possibilities. Emphasis is always placed on clear, attuned lead and follow skills, as well as usability. Tango 3 is meant to be taken repeatedly as the material changes monthly. The last 30 minutes of the 1.5 hour long class is dedicated to open practice where students can work out the moves learned in class with in put from the instructor. Prerequisite: A minimum of one month of Tango 1 and two months of Tango 2.
The August intensive offers students a more indepth look at the technique of this level, and, as students meet 4 times in a two week period for extended lessons, the material "sticks to the body" more redily!
